Tourist employment in the Region registers the best month of March of the historical series

During this month, the hotel and travel agency activities employed 41,705 people

Tourist employment in the Region reaches 69 months of consecutive growth

Employment in the tourism sector in the Region recorded the best month of March in the historical series, with 41,705 workers in hotel and travel agency activities, 453 more than in the same month of 2018 (1.1 percent) according to the Affiliation data published by the Ministry of Labor, Migration and Social Security.

These data show a solid trend in the growth of tourist employment, which has now reached 69 months with positive interannual rates and places the Region above eminently tourist destinations such as the Balearic Islands and Catalonia.

The Minister of Tourism and Culture, Miriam Guardiola, said that "these good data are even more positive if one takes into account that in 2018 Holy Week was celebrated in March, while this year will take place in April, so it is evident the good situation in which the sector is, which continues to contribute to the creation of employment ".

Regarding what we have in the year, during the first quarter of 2019, the average value of affiliation in the Region of Murcia in hotels and travel agencies was 39,892 workers, 3.2 percent more than in the same period of 2018 (1,240 new affiliates) and seven tenths higher than the average annual growth for the whole of Spain, which was 2.5 percent.

Thus, the interannual growth of tourism employment in the Region during these months of low season was the sixth largest in Spain, after Andalusia (4 percent), Valencia and Madrid (both with 3.8 percent);

Navarra (3.7 percent) and Castilla La Mancha (3.6 percent).
