The Civil Guard surprises three people in Murcia selling large quantities of fish in an itinerant way

Sunday, September 30th, 2018

It is a question of numerous pieces of anchovy, hake, horse mackerel, blue whiting, conger, red mullet, sardine, bonito, sea bream, sea bass and mussels

They used a child, the son of one of the accused, to warn of the police presence

The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia, in collaboration with the Fisheries and Aquaculture Service of the Autonomous Community of Murcia (CARM) and within the framework of the 'Annual Plan for the Comprehensive Control of Fishing Activities (PACIAP)', has developed the operation 'Market', which has made it possible to detect the illegal sale of large quantities of fish in the vicinity of a market in the municipality of Murcia.

The operation has culminated with three people reported and with the fish seized.

Within the services established to fight against the commercialization of products from sea fishing, members of the Benemérita and inspectors of the Fisheries Service of the CARM started the operation having indications that several people were selling fish illegally in the municipality of Murcia, an activity that is prohibited.

The first signs allowed to verify that it was three people with three vans that moved from the province of Alicante to the weekly markets of Murcia.

Once in the vicinity of the market they offered fish without the required authorizations.

In one of the devices developed with the purpose of detecting this illegal activity, the agents located three vans in the Murcia hamlet of Sucina that were stationed in the vicinity of the weekly market, whose drivers were offering their products (fish) to the people they accessed the market.

He used his son as 'water carrier'

The agents also found that one of the people who was selling fish was using a child as a lookout, strategically placed on the roof of the van, from where he could see all the accesses and inform those now denounced of the presence of the agents.

Civil guards identified the three owners of the vans, inspected the interior of the vehicles and found a large amount of fish, whose origin and traceability generated considerable doubt, so they proceeded to seize the fish and denounce the people who were offering the fish for infractions to Law 3/2011, of Maritime Fishing of the State, to the Law 7 2/2007 of Maritime Fishing and Aquaculture of the Region of Murcia and to the Municipal Ordinance Regulatory of the Ambulatory Sale in the municipal term of Murcia.

The 28 fish boxes intervened, among which were different types of fish such as anchovy, hake, horse mackerel, blue whiting, conger, red mullet, sardine, bonito, sea bream, sea bass and mussel among others, valued between 800 and 1,000 euros, a Once analyzed by the inspectors, it was determined that they were not suitable for human consumption, so they were entered into the Wildlife Recovery Center "El Valle" in Murcia.

Activity with considerable danger to public health

The authors of this type of events can face fines ranging from 3,001 euros to 60,000 euros in the administrative channel, regulated by Law 2/2007 of March 2 on Maritime Fishing and Aquaculture in the Region of Murcia, as well as a fine of up to 3,000 euros, according to the Municipal Ordinance Regulating Mobile Sales in the municipality of Murcia.

In addition, these illicit activities pose a considerable danger to public health due to the lack or lack of any type of sanitary control over the products marketed.

The actions carried out have been sent to the Ministry of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries General Directorate of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Aquaculture (Fisheries and Aquaculture Service) of the CARM and the City of Murcia.

SATSE denounces: "We are the European country with the highest life expectancy and fewer nurses"

Sunday, September 30th, 2018

Spain is the country that will experience a greater increase of people over 65 in the coming years and continues to be one of the last in terms of the number of nurses per inhabitant, these being the health professionals who must respond to their needs. care.

The percentage of population over 65 in the Region of Murcia is 15.28% according to the latest data from the Autonomous Community (2017)

The Nursing Union insists on the inescapable need to expand in all health and social services of the autonomous communities the staff of nurses, nurses and physiotherapists so that older people receive the proper care and attention in health and social care centers.

The Union of Nursing, SATSE, has denounced the serious incongruity that supposes that Spain is the country of Europe with the highest life expectancy and the one that will experience a greater increase of people older than 65 years in the next years and that continues being one of the last in terms of the number of nurses per inhabitant, these being the health professionals who must respond to their care needs.

SATSE highlights that, while Spain is the European country with the highest life expectancy and the second in the world, with an average of 83 years, the autonomous governments still do not respond to the care needs that the elderly require when not having enough professionals of Nursing and also of Physiotherapy ..

The percentage of population over 65 in the Region of Murcia is 15.28% according to the latest data from the Autonomous Community (2017)

In addition, there is the circumstance that Spain is the country that will experience a greater increase of people over 65 in the coming years.

Specifically, about 40 percent of the Spanish population will be over 65 in 2050, while about 15 percent will exceed 80 years.

Based on these data included in the "Health and Glance 2017" report of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the union concludes that, if the current situation does not change, our country will not be prepared to face guarantees of success the great challenge posed by the progressive aging of the Spanish population.

In this sense, SATSE insists on the inescapable need to expand in all health and social services of the autonomous communities the staff of nurses, nurses and physiotherapists so that older people receive the care and proper care in health and social care centers .

Spain is still well below the average in terms of the number of nursing professionals per inhabitant, since we have a ratio of 5.3 nurses per 1,000 inhabitants while the average in Europe is about nine professionals per 1,000 inhabitants.

In the case of physiotherapists, the ratio per thousand inhabitants is 0.1 per 1,000, or what is the same, a professional for 10,000 citizens, recalls the Union.

According to SATSE, the situation in nursing homes and other health centers in our country is particularly worrying, in which there may be more than 100 or 120 residents per nurse or nurse, which logically leads to poorer quality of care. attention received by a particularly vulnerable group, such as the elderly.

Finally, the union organization defends a greater and better integration of health and social services in our country to ensure continuity of care and continuous and comprehensive assistance to the person.

"It is absolutely necessary to establish a joint action strategy that allows effective coordination between both systems so that our elders can be cared for and taken care of as they deserve," they conclude.

The population of deer has multiplied by three in the last ten years in the Region

Sunday, September 30th, 2018

The number of specimens of this species, which practically disappeared from the mountains of the Region, has gone from little more than 200 a decade ago to about 700 today

This week begins the bellowing of the deer, which can be heard in Coto de las Maravillas de Cehegín or in areas of Moratalla

The population of deer has multiplied by three in the last ten years in the region, from just over 200 copies a decade ago to the nearly 700 that is estimated to be today in various mountainous areas of the Region .

The proliferation of this species, based on the hunting boundaries, has led to its extension in the mountainous systems of Yecla, Jumilla, Caravaca de la Cruz, Mula, Bullas, Moratalla, Cehegín, Calasparra, Cieza, Ricote, Abarán, Blanca , Ojós or Campos del Río.

A decade ago it was practically impossible to find specimens of this species outside the hunting grounds, while at present it is estimated that about 200 individuals live in freedom.

The rest are distributed in the five preserves authorized and regulated in the Plans of Hunting Management, located in the municipalities of Yecla, Moratalla and Cehegín.

The general director of Medio Medio, Consuelo Rosauro, stressed that the recovery of this species "comes to further enrich the already extensive and varied catalog of regional fauna."

"The Region has a great diversity of species and ecosystems that can be considered unique in the national and European context," said Consuelo Rosauro.

"In the case of the deer, its recovery is parallel to that of other species of ungulates such as the mouflon, the fallow deer or the roe deer and is due, among other reasons, to the progressive depopulation of rural areas, to the lower hunting pressure and to the increase of the forest mass that gives refuge to these species ".

This week, precisely, the so-called bellow or brama began in the Region, the period of estrus of the deer and that are characterized by the guttural sound that the males emit to attract the females.

During the rut, which lasts between the end of September and the middle of October, there are also fights between the males to try to gather harems of up to 50 females and mate.

"The moment of the bellowing is a natural spectacle that, despite not having a long tradition in the Region because the deer practically disappeared in the middle of the last century, generates more and more expectation and is an important claim for lovers of sustainable tourism linked to natural wealth, "explained the general director of Medio Medio.

In the Region, one of the best areas to listen to the open way is the Coto de las Maravillas, in Cehegín, which even has a space where hunting is not allowed with the intention of becoming a refuge for deer , although it can also be heard in mountainous areas of the municipalities where this species is present.
