Families Murcia aid available to purchase books and school supplies totaling 8.5 million euros

Nearly 65,000 families will benefit this year of these grants, which account for 110 euros and 150 primary pupils for High School

About 65,000 families in the region of Murcia will benefit the 2011-2012 academic year of aid to purchase books and school supplies for a total amounting to 8.5 million euros, 50 percent financed by the Community Autonomous Region and the Ministry of Education.

The deadline to apply for these grants, ranging from 110 euros for students in primary and 150 secondary students, was open until June 23, as reported by the regional government in the first half of this year.

The support system articulated by the regional government for the guaranteed purchase of school supplies that the lack of economic means is not an impediment in access to education.

In this regard, the Ministry has established income thresholds higher than those set by the central government so that aid can reach more families and thus benefit those that have lower incomes.

The Ministry regrets the statements made today by the Socialists Murcia on aid for the purchase of school supplies, and remember that the Region of Murcia is the second largest Community education budget, 28.1 percent of total regional budget This highlights the importance attached by the Executive Murcia to the formation of citizens.
